Automobiles in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were alerted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.

Officers then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials report early analysis show the liquid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.

A senior representative said the incident rendered him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
